I'm famous! Sorta. The film I was costarring in several years ago never got completed due to an illness in the director's family, but he posted one of my scenes on youtube. It's pretty funny, check it out.

I was at the bookstore tonight, casually reading a magazine in the periodicals section when a mother and elementary school aged daughter passed by and I overheard their conversation.

D: Mommy mommy is that Obama on the cover of that magazine?

M: Yes honey.

D: Does that mean he won the lection?

M: No dear the election isn't until Tuesday.

D: Oh. Well I'm voting for McCain.

M: Heh. Are you?

D: Yes, who are you voting for?

M: I'm voting for McCain honey. I don't want the world to end too soon.

I was just driving home, and was about to go through an intersection with a green light. A car that was stopped on the cross street to my left started inching forward and then decided to either go straight or turn left in front of me. I swerved to the right to avoid hitting it and swerved back left to get back in my lane, and my car started spinning in circles (it was very cinematic!) , and the side hit the divider, knocking my foot on to the accelerator, sending my car in a faster spin and into the oncoming traffic lane. Thankfully no cars were heading towards me. I managed to get my foot off the accelerator and back on the brake pedal and pull over. Then I turned around to face the proper direction and headed home, heart racing. The metal underneath my rear passenger door is a little ripped up and the door is harder to open and close. There's a burny smell which I assume is burned rubber from squealing tires. I'll have to take another look n the morning when it's light out. Other than adrenaline overload I seem to be fine...

The Gummi Bears Theme Song in Spanish

from http://www.newgumbrea.com/lyrics.php#span

Nobles, leales,
valientes, cordiales,
Viven momentos
de gran emoción.
En la espesura
hay mil aventuras,
siempre al compás
de su alegre canción.
Gummis son,
dando saltos entran en acción,
aparecen en cualquier rincón,
los Osos Gummi son.

Magia y gloria,
envuelven su historia,
y el sumo secreto
de un zumo especial.
Peligros constantes
superan triunfantes
durante su lucha
en contra del mal.

Gummis son,
dando saltos entran en acción,
aparecen en cualquier rincón,
los Osos Gummi son,
los Osos Gummi son.

I was sitting outside yesterday and heard rustling ni the leaves on the side of the house. I figured it was a squirrel or more likely the neighborhood roaming cat. But surprise! It was a large mangy looking feral dog! Very scary! We stared at each other for a second, then I decided to use the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal gambit and looked the other way, since if you can't see it, it can't see you. It worked as it paused, did an about face, and went back to where it came from.

My friend Brian had to put his cat to sleep the other day. She started showing signs of diabetes, and despite insulin shots, she began to slowly get very large, lose bladder control, and finally had trouble walking. He buried her in the yard with a marble slab and Egyptian cat statue as marker. She wasn't my favorite cat, but I mourn her passing and send my condolences to Brian.

I just found out that my friend Billy got arrested. Unfortunately he's been handed over to immigration and it seems likely he'll be deported. His bail was set too high for him to make. I'm not sure exactly where he is or if it's possible to visit him. I hope that I can find a way to see him before he is sent away.

While it would seem to make more sense for the larger fry to be a better deal, I've always had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't. What if multiple smaller fries was actually cheaper? I was determined to find out. I did an experiment!

I bought one large fry and one small fry, weighed each, and also counted the number of fries in each. The results:

Large fry
$2.47
6.5 oz
122 fries
= $.38/oz or 49 fries/$1

Small fry
$1.00
3 oz.
42 fries
= $.33/oz or 42 fries/$1

Small fry appears to be the winner!

Now of course, this was a horribly designed experiement:

• statistical sample of 1 each (favors neither)

• I'm not actually sure of the price - I know the small fry was a dollar because it's on the dollar menu, and the total was $3.47 so that would make the large fry $2.47 assuming no tax - I'm not sure if fast food has tax or not (favors small fry)

• I weighed them in their packaging but then it's just paper (favors large fry)

• I didn't have a real scale - I used a postal scale, which just has increments of 1 oz. (favors neither)

• fries are all different sizes - the large fry probably had a greater variation, especially with tiny fries (favors large)

It seems like most of the errors favored the large fry, so the real results would probably be even more in small fry's court.
